Manx Utilities is installing the Isle of Man's first ultra-rapid public EV charger at the Sea Terminal, capable of delivering up to 160 kW to a single vehicle. The site will expand to four charging bays in total, retaining its existing charger. Demand across Manx Utilities' public network reached 476 charging sessions in the past week.
Why it matters: The deployment marks a step up in charging speed for the island's public network and signals growing utilisation, with nearly 500 weekly sessions justifying further capacity investment. Procurement teams and charge point operators will note the phased expansion model that preserves existing infrastructure while adding faster hardware.
