EVNews is operated by EVT Data Ltd, a company registered in England and Wales (company number 17255478), registered office 71–75 Shelton Street, Covent Garden, London WC2H 9JQ. This page explains what we collect when you read EVNews, and why. The short version: you can read everything here without an account, and we collect very little.
What we collect
Nothing you have to give us. EVNews has no accounts, no sign up and no payments. You can read every page without telling us who you are.
Reading statistics (always on, no cookies). We use Plausible, a privacy-focused analytics service, to count visits and see which stories are read. Plausible does not use cookies and does not identify individual visitors.
Usage and performance data (only if you accept). If you accept optional cookies in the banner, we also use PostHog (product analytics) and Datadog (performance monitoring) to understand how the site is used and how quickly it loads. If you reject them, these stay off.
Server logs. Like almost every website, our servers keep short-lived technical logs (including IP addresses) for security and to keep the site running. These are not used to profile readers.
Cookies
Strictly necessary cookies are always on: they remember things like your cookie choice itself and your light or dark theme preference. Everything else is optional and off until you accept it in the banner. You can review or change your choice at any time: . Rejecting optional cookies does not stop you reading anything.
Where the data goes
Plausible processes data in the EU. Datadog processes data in the EU. PostHog processes data in the United States; where personal data is transferred outside the UK, it is protected by recognised safeguards such as the UK Addendum to standard contractual clauses.
How long we keep it
Analytics data is kept for the periods set by each provider and used only in aggregate. We do not build individual reader profiles and we do not sell data.
Your rights
Under UK data protection law you have rights over personal data we hold about you, including access, correction, deletion and objection. Given how little EVNews collects, the most common request is simply to reject optional cookies, which you can do in the banner. To exercise any right, contact us at privacy@evnews.ai.
If you are not happy with how we handle your data, you can complain to the Information Commissioner's Office (ICO) at ico.org.uk.
Changes
If what we collect changes, this page changes first, and the date at the top moves.
