Rollout pace

Zeekr Malaysia has announced plans to establish 30 Zeekr Power charging stations nationwide over the next three years, working with local charge point operator DC Handal. Federation of Malaysia Electric Vehicle Associations president Jason Lee and transport expert Wan Agyl Wan Hassan said the private sector initiative could help narrow Malaysia's EV infrastructure gap, with Wan Agyl advocating for automaker collaboration with established operators rather than separate branded networks.

Why it matters: The announcement highlights a potential procurement model in which automakers invest directly in charging infrastructure through partnerships with existing CPOs, rather than building standalone networks. For charge point operators, such collaborations could accelerate rollout velocity while leveraging automaker capital and strategic site selection.
