The Nice Côte d'Azur metropolitan region has opened 86 charging stations to the public following the discontinuation of Renault's Mobilize Share car-sharing service on 30 June 2026. The stations, previously reserved for Mobilize vehicles, have been integrated into the Prise de Nice network after a brief refurbishment. Of the 86 points, 80 are in Nice itself, expanding the city's public charging network by 20 per cent, with the remaining six distributed across Villefranche-sur-Mer, Carros, and Cagnes-sur-Mer.
Why it matters: The conversion demonstrates how municipalities can rapidly absorb stranded private charging assets to expand public networks, offering a procurement model for cities facing similar operator exits.
