Rollout pace

Indonesia's state electricity company PT PLN reported 92,112 home chargers and 5,016 public charging stations installed by 30 June 2026, representing 800 times and 22 times growth respectively since 2021. The network also includes 1,133 battery swap stations and 619 motorcycle charging points, all integrated through the PLN Mobile app for location, management and transaction monitoring.

Why it matters: The scale and pace of PLN's rollout, particularly the near 800 fold increase in home installations, signals Indonesia's rapid shift to residential charging infrastructure and creates a reference case for state utility led EV programmes in emerging markets. Procurement teams and charge point operators entering Southeast Asia now face an incumbent with over 98,000 total charging assets and a unified digital platform.
