BP sells French EV charging network to Sorégies as pulse exits more territories

BP has sold its 32 operational bp pulse charging sites in France, plus 14 under development, to French operator Sorégies, transforming the buyer into a national provider. The exit follows BP's February 2025 strategic pivot back to oil and gas, with the company committing £10 billion to fossil fuel investments after concluding renewables failed to meet cost of capital targets. BP pulse now focuses on the UK, Germany, China and the US, having recently signed a deal for over 30 Roadchef motorway sites in 2027.

Why it matters

The sale signals continued consolidation as a major multinational retreats from European charging markets, creating acquisition opportunities for regional operators like Sorégies. Procurement teams in France now face a changed competitive landscape with a domestic player absorbing established infrastructure and pipeline projects.
