Renault plans 10 billion euro investment in France over five years for electric vehicle production
Renault will invest at least 10 billion euros in France over the next five years, focusing on electric vehicle technology and affordable models, CEO François Provost told France Inter radio, as reported by Handelsblatt. The investment forms part of the company's futuREady strategy to launch 22 new models in Europe by 2030, 16 of which will be fully electric. Renault previously invested approximately 13 billion euros in France over the past five years, largely adapting production infrastructure for electric mobility.
Why it matters
The commitment signals sustained demand for EV manufacturing equipment and charging infrastructure in France, with 16 battery electric models requiring factory electrification and associated charging capacity. Renault's development of an 800 volt platform and new battery technologies may drive procurement opportunities for high power charging systems at production and testing facilities.
Renault unveils E-Space concept at Paris Motor Show, signalling electric MPV on 800-volt platform
Renault has revealed the E-Space concept at the Paris Motor Show, a 4.7 metre electric MPV inspired by the original 1984 Espace. The concept points to a production model built on Renault's upcoming 800-volt RGEV Medium 2.0 platform, part of the carmaker's plan to launch 12 new electrified models by 2030. Renault UK boss Adam Wood confirmed earlier this year that the company would not rule out reviving the Espace nameplate.
Why it matters
A production electric Espace on an 800-volt architecture would create fresh fleet and family demand for rapid charging infrastructure across Europe, particularly at motorway services and urban hubs where MPV users typically charge. Renault's 12-model electrification pipeline signals sustained OEM commitment that underpins long term CPO investment cases in France and wider European markets.
