Ionity reaches 900 stations and 6,500 ultra-fast chargers across Europe, targets 13,000 points by 2030
Ionity has opened its 900th station in Europe, totalling 6,500 ultra-fast charge points, and aims to reach around 13,000 points by 2030 across the UK, Germany, France and Sweden. France currently has 181 stations with nearly 1,380 charge points, averaging eight chargers per site. The operator has secured up to 600 million euros in financing from nine banks and plans to add two to eight charge points at roughly 25% of existing stations over the next four to five months, alongside opening around 20 new sites per year.
Why it matters
The expansion addresses queue anxiety at motorway hubs by densifying existing sites and opening new ones, while the 600 million euro facility signals sustained rollout momentum for CPOs and contractors bidding on high-power corridor work. Ionity's focus on four core markets concentrates procurement opportunities and sets a benchmark for ultra-fast network scale in Europe.
