Loop Global launches offline EV charging capability Infinity Link
Loop Global has introduced Infinity Link, a technology that enables EV chargepoints to operate without stable network connectivity, allowing drivers to charge even when their phone or the charger cannot connect to the internet. The system provides live data to site hosts and operators during connection losses and can be enabled across Loop's network without retrofit. Customers must use the Loop mobile app to initiate offline charging sessions, with the technology designed for rural deployments, underground garages, and areas with patchy connectivity or grid outages.
Why it matters
Infinity Link addresses a critical reliability gap for CPOs deploying in rural or connectivity challenged locations, reducing downtime and improving customer experience without capital expenditure on hardware upgrades. The solution may influence site selection and risk assessment for operators evaluating previously marginal locations.

World's largest battery powered ferry begins sea trials in Hobart
Incat has started sea trials on the River Derwent in Hobart for Hull 096, a 130 metre electric ferry destined for service between Uruguay and Argentina. The vessel can carry 2,100 passengers and 225 vehicles, powered by more than 5,000 batteries weighing approximately 260 tonnes. Further trials will precede transport to South America via heavy lift ship.
Why it matters
The successful deployment of a battery electric vessel at this scale demonstrates proven technology for large capacity maritime transport, potentially informing shore power and charging infrastructure requirements for ports handling similar electric ferries. Operators and port authorities may need to plan for multi megawatt charging systems to support vessels of this battery capacity.
