Rolls-Royce scraps 2030 all-electric target as Spectre deliveries drop 47 percent

Rolls-Royce has abandoned its 2030 all-electric sales goal, with CEO Chris Brownridge confirming on 18 March 2026 that the marque will continue producing V12 combustion engines indefinitely. Spectre deliveries fell to 1,002 units in 2025, down 47 percent from 1,890 in 2024, and the EV's share of total Rolls-Royce sales dropped from 33 percent in 2024 to 17.7 percent in 2025, according to BMW Group's annual report. The reversal marks a departure from the target set by former CEO Torsten Müller-Ötvös in 2021 and reaffirmed at the Spectre's 2022 reveal.

Why it matters

The collapse of Spectre sales underscores weak ultra-luxury EV demand and signals that even premium OEMs face headwinds in meeting electrification timelines, potentially slowing infrastructure investment tied to high-end vehicle rollouts. Procurement teams planning charging for luxury fleets or destination sites may need to reassess volume forecasts and technology mix.
