Hyundai KEFICO tests integrated solar, battery and 360 kW charger system at Korean headquarters
Hyundai KEFICO has built a demonstration facility combining a 30 kW solar array, a 344 kWh energy storage system, a 120 kW power conversion system and a 360 kW Power Bank to supply four ultra fast charging posts and one standard post. The pilot, located at the company's headquarters, aims to validate on site generation and storage as a way to manage grid demand and reduce costs under Korea's new output tiered charging tariffs. Global public charging infrastructure reached more than 7 million points by the end of 2025, according to the International Energy Agency.
Why it matters
The trial shows how charge point operators can integrate solar and battery storage to cut electricity costs and smooth peak demand, a model that may inform procurement decisions as tiered tariffs and grid constraints spread. Validating the full generation to charger workflow at scale offers a blueprint for operators seeking to control operating expenses while deploying high power infrastructure.
