Arnold Clark Charge adds Paua roaming partnership to reach business fleet drivers
Arnold Clark Charge has signed a roaming deal with Paua, the EV charging payment platform, giving business and fleet users access to its 50 ultra-rapid charging hubs across Arnold Clark branches in the UK. Each hub offers up to 12 chargers with speeds up to 150 kW. Paua's platform connects drivers to over 65,000 public charge point connectors nationwide through a single card or app.
Why it matters
The partnership expands Arnold Clark Charge's addressable market into the fleet and business segment, a key growth area for CPOs. Roaming integrations like Paua reduce friction for corporate users and can drive higher utilisation at existing sites.
UK government proposes planning reforms to ease home EV charging for renters and non-driveway households
The UK government announced on 29 October 2025 proposed planning reforms to remove red tape for EV charging installation, targeting renters and motorists without driveways. The measures include mandating chargepoints in new covered car parks, consulting on removing planning permission for cross pavement charging gullies, and potentially saving residents up to £250 on application fees. The reforms aim to give more households access to domestic electricity rates, enabling EV running costs as low as 2p per mile.
Why it matters
Simplifying planning rules for on street and rental property charging could unlock significant residential demand, expanding the addressable market for CPOs and installers beyond traditional driveway installations. Lower barriers to home charging may also reduce reliance on public infrastructure in residential areas, reshaping deployment priorities.
