MFG has deployed Plug and Charge technology in partnership with Hubject across its UK charging network, according to electrive.com. The rollout enables automatic authentication and payment for electric vehicle drivers without requiring apps or RFID cards. The implementation uses Hubject's ISO 15118 based system to streamline the charging experience at MFG sites.
Why it matters
Plug and Charge adoption by a major UK forecourt operator signals growing infrastructure maturity and improved user experience, potentially influencing procurement specifications for public charging tenders. The Hubject partnership demonstrates how interoperability standards are becoming commercially viable for charge point operators seeking competitive advantage.

Brighton and Hove introduces four-hour maximum stay at EV charging bays from 27 April
Brighton and Hove City Council has announced new parking restrictions for electric vehicle charging points across the city, effective from Monday, 27 April. Drivers will face a four-hour maximum stay at numerous charging locations, with no return permitted within four hours. In Zone A, Robertson Road charging points will become permit holder only between 8am and 8pm.
Why it matters
The turnover rules aim to prevent bay blocking and improve charger availability, a common operational challenge for CPOs in high-demand urban areas. Permit-only restrictions in some zones may reduce utilisation rates and complicate access planning for charge-point operators.
