ChargePoint has partnered with European direct payments provider Cariqa to enable charge point operators using the be.ENERGISED platform to offer QR code based payment. Drivers can scan a code and pay via Apple Pay, Google Pay, credit card or PayPal without downloading an app, registering an account or using a charging card. The solution can be white labelled in the CPO's own branding.

Why it matters: The partnership gives CPOs on ChargePoint's platform a turnkey way to reduce payment friction and driver drop off at the point of charge, potentially improving utilisation and revenue from existing hardware as the European market matures.

Diagnostic tests of more than 10,000 used EVs by London battery specialist Generational found approximately one in 85 cars have a cell imbalance exceeding 50 millivolts, with one in 200 showing serious imbalance above 100 millivolts. The median imbalance across the sample was just eight millivolts. With over two million EVs on UK roads, the findings suggest more than 25,000 vehicles could be affected by faults that reduce range, slow charging or trigger battery management limits.

Why it matters: Fleet operators and charge point operators need to anticipate that a small but significant share of the UK EV parc may exhibit degraded charging behaviour or reduced utilisation, potentially affecting session duration and site throughput. Early battery diagnostics could become a procurement criterion for second hand fleet acquisitions and inform warranty or maintenance contracts.

EVA England, EVA Cymru, EVA Northern Ireland and EVA Scotland have opened a nationwide survey asking all UK drivers to share views on electric vehicle cost, charging infrastructure and readiness to switch. The initiative follows last year's EVA England survey showing 66 per cent of petrol and diesel drivers actively considering an EV, and comes as Government reviews manufacturer sales targets and prepares to introduce eVED tax on electric vehicles from 2028. Findings will be shared with policymakers and stakeholders to shape transport policy on charging infrastructure and EV affordability.

Why it matters: The survey results will provide procurement teams and charge point operators with evidence based insight into driver demand and infrastructure gaps at a time when policy on sales mandates and taxation is under review. Understanding regional attitudes and barriers to adoption can help CPOs prioritise site selection and service design to meet untapped demand.
