Luceco raises full year profit guidance as EV charger revenue doubles

Electrical products maker Luceco reported revenue up 13.4% to £142.6m and adjusted operating profit up 14.5% to £15.8m for the six months to 30 June, with its Energy Transition business, mainly EV charging, seeing revenue growth of 120%. The company now has more than 30,000 chargers enrolled in demand flexibility schemes that pay for adjusting charging to balance the grid, though regulatory changes are reducing per charger revenue. On the strength of the performance, Luceco raised its full year adjusted operating profit guidance above market expectations.

Why it matters

The 120% revenue growth in Luceco's EV charging division signals strong UK market demand, while the 30,000 chargers enrolled in grid balancing schemes demonstrate the growing importance of smart charging infrastructure for network operators. The note on regulatory changes affecting demand flexibility revenue highlights evolving commercial models that CPOs and procurement teams must factor into business cases.
