Chatham County selects nine sites for public EV chargers in unincorporated Georgia areas
Chatham County, Georgia has identified nine locations for public EV charging stations in Georgetown, Garden City, Thunderbolt and the islands, following stakeholder meetings and public forums. The project is funded by a $21 million Southeast Crescent Regional Commission grant for infrastructure and economic development across the Southeastern United States. As of 19 March, the county has over 3,000 active EV registrations and over 8,000 hybrids out of more than 245,000 total vehicle registrations.
Why it matters
The county prioritised sites along evacuation routes, in low income areas and flood resistant locations, signalling a procurement approach that balances equity and resilience criteria. With EVs representing just over 1% of local registrations, the rollout targets underserved communities unable to install home charging.
ShopRite of Paramus opens Electrify America fast charging station
A ShopRite supermarket in Paramus, New Jersey, has opened an Electrify America fast charging station on site. The deployment adds public charging infrastructure at a retail location in the United States. ROI-NJ reported the opening, though specific charger counts and power ratings were not disclosed.
Why it matters
Grocery-anchored charging sites offer dwell-time alignment for DC fast charging and signal continued retail-property partnerships for network operators. The Paramus installation reflects Electrify America's strategy to place chargers at high-footfall commercial destinations.

Hamilton Southeastern Schools wins 2026 School Bus Fleet of the Year for electric bus adoption in Indiana
Hamilton Southeastern Schools in Indianapolis received the 2026 School Bus Fleet of the Year award from Drive Clean Indiana on 16 March during the organisation's annual Breakfast of Champions, held alongside Work Truck Week. The district, one of Indiana's largest, had one electric school bus purchased in 2022 as of June 2024, according to Director of Transportation Zach McKinney. Drive Clean Indiana is the state's clean cities coalition recognised by the U.S. Department of Energy.
Why it matters
The award signals growing institutional commitment to electric school bus fleets in the U.S. Midwest, though the district's modest starting point of one vehicle in 2022 suggests early stage adoption that may accelerate procurement and charging infrastructure demand in the region.
Third generation Jeep Compass adds all-electric powertrain for 2026 model year
Jeep has launched the third generation Compass SUV with an all-electric option for the first time, targeting the competitive C-segment market. The model, which has sold more than 2.5 million units since its 2006 launch, features a completely new design and interior to compete with rivals including the Ford Explorer, Renault Scenic, Toyota C-HR+, Vauxhall Grandland and Peugeot 3008. The vehicle is designed by the same Turin based team responsible for the Avenger and is positioned as a larger sibling to that model.
Why it matters
The addition of an electric powertrain to a high volume SUV nameplate signals growing OEM commitment to electrification in the competitive C-segment, potentially driving demand for charging infrastructure at dealerships and fleet depots. With over 2.5 million Compass units sold historically, the electric variant could represent significant charging point deployment opportunities as the model transitions to battery power.

US states explore indirect source rules to regulate warehouse vehicle emissions after federal rollback
Following the repeal of the federal Endangerment Finding, US states are examining indirect source rule (ISR) authority to regulate vehicle emissions at high traffic facilities such as warehouses. The Environmental Defense Fund reports that at least one in four New Yorkers lives within half a mile of a warehouse of at least 50,000 square feet, with e-commerce revenue doubling over the past five years driving warehouse expansion near population centres. ISRs target facilities that generate significant emissions by drawing vehicles to their sites, addressing pollution concentrated in low income communities and communities of colour.
Why it matters
Warehouse operators and logistics firms may face new state level emissions requirements that could mandate EV charging infrastructure or fleet electrification at distribution centres. Procurement teams planning charging networks around freight hubs should monitor state ISR adoption, as compliance mandates may accelerate commercial charging demand in warehouse corridors.
California Governor Newsom announces nearly 900 million dollars for future transportation systems
Governor Gavin Newsom has announced nearly 900 million dollars in funding for cutting edge transportation systems in California. The announcement was made through the California State Portal. The funding is intended to support advanced transportation infrastructure development across the state.
Why it matters
This substantial state level funding allocation could include significant resources for EV charging infrastructure expansion, creating procurement opportunities for CPOs and contractors working on next generation transportation projects in California.
