Washington awards 37 million dollars to deploy 754 EV charging ports across 104 projects
The Washington State Department of Commerce has granted 37.3 million dollars from Climate Commitment Act funding to 43 organisations for 104 electric vehicle charging projects statewide. The programme will deliver 754 new charging ports by late 2027, with 550 Level 2 chargers included, prioritising overburdened and rural communities. State officials estimate drivers could save more than 1,000 dollars annually on fuel costs, with Washington EV drivers currently saving an average of 73 per cent per mile compared to petrol vehicles.
Why it matters
The 104 project awards create immediate procurement opportunities for charging hardware suppliers and installation contractors across Washington, particularly in underserved rural and overburdened areas. The late 2027 delivery timeline and mix of Level 2 infrastructure signals a multi year pipeline for CPOs and equipment vendors targeting state funded programmes.
