Rivian ships nearly 20,000 vehicles in Q3 2026 and narrows losses, but remains unprofitable

Rivian reported third quarter 2026 consolidated revenue of US$2.155 billion, up 38% year on year, with consolidated gross profit of US$176 million, a US$152 million improvement. Net loss attributable to common stockholders fell to US$913 million from US$1.173 billion, and adjusted net loss per share was US$0.48 against US$0.65. The company shipped nearly 20,000 vehicles from Normal, Illinois, and revised its delivery prediction to between 67,000 and 70,000 vehicles, as reported by EVNews's source coverage of the results.

Why it matters

Rising vehicle volumes alongside continued heavy losses show that US EV demand remains under pressure, which shapes the pace of charger utilisation growth that CPOs and their funders can expect. Procurement teams should note that Rivian's improved automotive gross loss of US$80 million still depends partly on regulatory credit revenue, so the outlook for US policy support matters.

Envoy Launches On-Site EV Car Sharing at Montage at Midtown, Its First Southwest Florida Location

Envoy, a subsidiary of Dot Ai (Nasdaq: DAIC), has launched on-site electric vehicle car sharing at Montage at Midtown, a $100 million redevelopment. It is the company's first location in Southwest Florida. The news was published on DAIC Stock News, and the excerpt gives no fleet size, charger count or pricing.

Why it matters

Residential and mixed-use developments are being used as a route to place shared EVs alongside charging, which is a channel worth watching for CPOs and installers pursuing property-led work. With no charging specifics disclosed, the opportunity for hardware or service suppliers is not yet clear.

Ford Maverick owner reports $17,750 saved over the cheapest Ford F150 after 27,000 miles

A Maverick owner posting on the Maverick Truck Club forum said he paid $14,000 less than he would have for the lowest priced F150, and saved a further $3,750 on gas over his first 27,000 miles. The Cool Down, citing Torque News, reports that Torque News checked the fuel maths using $4.27 per gallon, the AAA national average at the time, and found the savings attainable with the Maverick Hybrid rather than the EcoBoost.

Why it matters

Buyers in the US pickup segment are weighing purchase price and running costs closely, and a cheap hybrid truck sets a high bar for electric alternatives on total cost. For CPOs and fleet buyers, it is a reminder that hybrids compete for the same cost conscious drivers who might otherwise become charging customers.

Toyota to build bZ4X robotaxis with Waymo's self-driving system for a 2027 Japan test fleet

Toyota and Waymo have unveiled the first product from the partnership announced in spring 2025, a robotaxi based on the electric bZ4X SUV. Toyota will install and integrate Waymo's autonomous-driving equipment at its Takaoka facility in Toyota City, Aichi Prefecture, with Waymo operating a test fleet in Japan from 2027, according to Electrek as cited by The Cool Down. Waymo has not disclosed per-vehicle costs, production volumes or sensor specifications, and the vehicle will be the fourth in its self-driving fleet.

Why it matters

A factory-integrated robotaxi platform points to a dedicated electric fleet in Japan from 2027, which could create future demand for depot and fleet charging. With volumes and costs undisclosed, CPOs and suppliers should treat it as an early pipeline signal rather than a sized opportunity.

LiveWire warns of substantial doubt over its ability to continue as a going concern

In its third quarter results, published last Thursday, Harley Davidson's spun out electric motorcycle company LiveWire reported a consolidated net loss of US$18.6 million and an operating loss of US$17 million. Electric motorcycle sales rose 31 per cent year on year to 241 units, and revenue increased by US$1.7 million to US$2.7 million. Management cited recurring operating losses, negative operating cash flows and limited liquidity, and said it is pursuing capital raises, strategic partnerships or investments, sales and other strategic transactions.

Why it matters

Growth in units and revenue has not been enough to offset losses, which shows how hard it is for niche electric two wheeler players to reach financial stability. Anyone planning charging demand or partnerships around this segment should treat counterparty and volume assumptions with caution.
