Procurement & pipeline

Kia will invest 649 million US dollars to produce the EV3 compact electric SUV at its Pesquería plant in Nuevo León, Mexico, starting 4 August. The investment covers vehicle assembly upgrades, charging infrastructure, renewable energy projects and water recycling. Mexican-built EV3s will launch with approximately 27% local content, with battery packs initially imported from Asia, and production will serve domestic and Latin American markets.

Why it matters: The investment signals new charging infrastructure deployment tied to OEM manufacturing expansion in Mexico, creating procurement opportunities for charge point operators and installers serving both factory sites and the wider EV3 rollout across Latin America.
