Roadchef installs 12 ultra-rapid charge points at M4 Magor services

By Eve

Roadchef has deployed 12 ultra-rapid EV charge points at Magor services on the M4 near Newport in South Wales, each capable of charging at up to 360 kW. The site also includes amenities such as Costa Coffee, LEON, WHSmith, Chozen Noodle, a Days Inn and a 24/7 McDonald's. Paul Comer, director of EV implementation at Roadchef, said the investment underscores the company's commitment to expanding the UK EV charging network as electric vehicle numbers rise.

Why it matters: The 360 kW charging capacity represents a significant upgrade in motorway service area infrastructure, reducing dwell times for commercial and private EV users. For CPOs and site hosts, the deployment demonstrates the commercial viability of pairing high power charging with established retail and hospitality offerings at strategic motorway locations.
