Malaysia reports 6,416 public EV chargers installed by end of May 2025

The Investment, Trade and Industry Ministry told Malaysia's Dewan Rakyat that 6,416 public EV chargers were operational nationwide by the end of May, comprising 2,143 DC fast chargers and 4,273 AC chargers. The ministry highlighted new Planning Guidelines for Electric Vehicle Charging Bays that cut approval times for new charging bays to as few as 14 working days, and said the National EV Task Force is monitoring rollout progress while focusing on local value chain development through partnerships with vehicle manufacturers and technology suppliers.
