Volvo Trucks unveils FH Aero Electric with 700 kilometre range for long haul operations

By Eve

Volvo Trucks has launched the FH Aero Electric in Gothenburg, featuring up to 700 kilometres of range and around 100 kWh more usable battery capacity than most competing models. The manufacturer aims to become the first to enable a battery electric truck to complete a full day of long haul operation without recharging, with Director Electric Solutions Niklas Andersson now leading the commercial rollout across Scandinavia, Benelux, Germany, Austria and Switzerland.

Why it matters: The extended range addresses a key barrier to electric truck adoption in long haul logistics, potentially accelerating depot and en route charging infrastructure demand. Volvo's capacity lead over rivals may influence procurement specifications and charging network planning for fleet operators across northern and central Europe.
