Andhra Pradesh designates five model e-mobility cities under state EV policy

The Andhra Pradesh government has operationalised its Sustainable Electric Mobility Policy 4.0 by notifying Visakhapatnam, Rajahmundry, Vijayawada, Nellore and Tirupati as model e-mobility cities. The 2024 to 2029 policy framework aims to develop EV charging infrastructure, green routes, battery swapping stations and zero emission zones across these cities representing different administrative regions. State Municipal Minister PG Narayana said the initiative will improve transport efficiency and reduce pollution as part of the state's carbon neutrality vision.
Why it matters: The designation of five model cities creates defined geographic markets for charging infrastructure deployment and battery swapping networks in Andhra Pradesh, offering procurement opportunities across multiple urban centres. The policy framework signals state level commitment to integrated e-mobility ecosystems, potentially streamlining permitting and planning for CPOs targeting these priority locations.
