Three Audi A2 e-tron variants added to French subsidy list from 24 November 2026

By Eve

A decree published in France's Journal officiel on 23 October 2026 (JORF number 0248, text number 11) lists three Audi A2 e-tron power outputs (190 ch, 231 ch and 326 ch) as meeting the minimum environmental score for state subsidy eligibility, effective from 24 November 2026. The decree specifies vehicles by type-variant-version code rather than commercial name, and the 170 ch variant does not appear in the published list. ADEME sets the threshold at 60 points for eligibility.

Why it matters

Procurement teams planning French EV fleet tenders after November 2026 can now include these three A2 e-tron variants in subsidy calculations, though buyers must verify exact TVV codes with dealers to confirm eligibility for any unlisted trim levels.

Volkswagen battery recall hits 85,402 EVs globally as Audi Q4 E-Tron models added to affected list

Volkswagen Group has expanded its battery recall to 85,402 electric vehicles worldwide, now including 12,734 Audi Q4 E-Tron and Q4 Sportback E-Tron models (9,048 in the US). The recall, under investigation by Germany's KBA, affects ID.3, ID.4, ID.7, ID. Buzz and Cupra Born models produced between 2022 and 2025, with owners instructed to limit charging to 80% capacity due to overheating and fire risk. The initial US recall filed with NHTSA on 23 October covered 22,524 ID.4 SUVs from model years 2023 to 2026.

Why it matters

Fleet operators and charge point operators managing VW Group EVs must accommodate the 80% charging cap, potentially affecting utilisation rates and customer expectations at public charging sites. The scale of the recall, spanning multiple models and markets, may influence procurement decisions for organisations evaluating VW Group vehicles for fleet electrification.

US EV market shows slow recovery a year after the $7,500 federal tax credit ended

The $7,500 EV tax credit ended on 30 September 2025, and the Trump administration and Congress also removed fuel economy regulations and other policies supporting EVs. JD Power data shows the electric share of US retail car sales rose to over 14% in September 2025, fell to 7.1% in October and reached 5% in November, a level not seen since 2022. The article reports that the market has since started to rebound gradually, with JD Power's Tyson Jominy describing it as more resilient than might have been expected.

Why it matters

A sharp pull-forward in demand followed by a steep fall, then a gradual recovery, affects how CPOs and funders should model utilisation and charger rollout timing in the US. Slower EV uptake without federal incentives raises the importance of realistic demand assumptions in bids and business cases.

COP31 "35 by 35" electrification goal depends on rapid road transport shift to zero-emission vehicles

Türkiye and Australia, through the COP31 Presidency Action Agenda, are leading the "35 by 35" initiative to lift electricity's share of global final energy consumption from roughly 20% today to 35% by 2035. Electricity accounts for less than 1% of energy use in road transport, so closing the gap will require an immediate and rapid move to zero-emission vehicles. The analysis models a Baseline scenario, based on adopted policies and expected market developments through 2050, and an Ambitious scenario assuming full implementation of the ZEV Declaration and the Global MOU on zero-emission medium and heavy-duty vehicles, with the two paths diverging sharply toward 2050.

Why it matters

Road transport is described as the fastest-growing frontier for new electricity demand, which points to sustained need for charging infrastructure across both light-duty and truck and bus segments. Procurement teams and CPOs should watch whether the ZEV Declaration and the heavy-duty MOU commitments translate into national policy, as that would shape the scale and timing of future charging demand.
