Australia's largest heavy electric truck depot wins federal backing in Wilton

New Energy Transport will build a depot south-west of Sydney to support up to 50 heavy electric trucks, featuring around 12 megawatt scale charging bays, solar canopies and a 20 megawatt hour battery. The project has been selected for the federal government's new Investor Front Door programme and will anchor electrified freight corridors between Sydney, Wollongong, Newcastle and Canberra, with operations planned to start by the end of this year. The company aims to expand to Brisbane, Melbourne and Adelaide by 2031, with the Wilton site eventually scaling to 200 trucks.
