Believ to install 96 ultra-rapid EV bays across 12 9Yards retail parks in £10 million rollout
By Eve
Charge point operator Believ has partnered with retail park owner 9Yards to deploy 96 fully accessible ultra-rapid charging bays across 12 UK sites, backed by more than £10 million in Believ investment. Six parks will feature co-branded solar canopies, with installation scheduled to begin in late 2026. Believ will fund and deliver the end to end service, from site assessment and grid connection through to long term operation and maintenance.
Why it matters
The deal adds nearly 100 high power bays to the UK's retail charging network and demonstrates a fully funded CPO model that removes upfront cost barriers for landlords. Solar canopy integration at half the sites signals growing interest in on site renewable pairing within the charging procurement pipeline.

Believ wins 15 year deal to deploy over 600 chargers across three Ayrshire councils
CPO Believ has secured a 15 year partnership with East, North and South Ayrshire Councils to install more than 600 EV chargers at approximately 300 locations across southwest Scotland. The project combines over £2.8 million from the Scottish Government's EV Infrastructure Fund with more than £15 million in committed capital from Believ, delivered alongside Transport Scotland and the Scottish Futures Trust. East Ayrshire will receive around 180 chargers, North Ayrshire around 210 and South Ayrshire around 220, with passive provision for over 450 additional future chargers.
Why it matters
The deal demonstrates how multi council procurement can unlock significant private capital investment, with Believ committing over five times the public funding contribution. The inclusion of passive provision for 450 extra chargers shows forward planning to avoid costly retrofits as demand grows.

Shell Card adds Source ultra-rapid hubs to UK roaming network
Shell Fleet Solutions has integrated Source's UK ultra-rapid charging hubs into the Shell Card roaming network, giving fleet customers access to sites featuring at least 150kW chargers. Source operates more than half a dozen roaming partnerships and plans to open 300 ultra-rapid hubs across the UK and Ireland by 2030, all targeting 99% uptime and powered by renewable energy. Shell Card already provides access to over 72,000 public charge points across the UK.
Why it matters
The deal expands procurement options for fleet operators using Shell Card while reinforcing the commercial case for Source's hub rollout through guaranteed fleet demand. For CPOs, the partnership highlights how roaming agreements with major fuel card networks can accelerate utilisation at new ultra-rapid sites.

Brighton and Hove switches 500 on-street chargepoints to Believ and Char.gy, cuts tariffs
Brighton and Hove City Council is transferring 500 existing on-street chargepoints from Blink Charging UK to Believ and Char.gy from 15 October, bringing lower rates for overnight standard charging and all fast and rapid sessions. The council has installed 500 new chargepoints since March, plans a further 600 in the next six months, and will begin deploying 50 new rapid chargers in October. A separate trial will test pavement gullies for 200 households to run home charging cables.
Why it matters
The operator handover shows councils actively re-tendering to improve pricing and service for residents, while the 1,100 unit pipeline and 50 rapid rollout signal sustained capital deployment. Procurement teams and CPOs should note the shift toward dual-operator models and the emerging interest in kerb-side cable infrastructure as councils seek to close the home-charging gap.
