Bexley completes 400 ubitricity lamppost charge points, reaching 500 borough total
By Eve
Shell subsidiary ubitricity has installed 400 lamppost charge points across the London Borough of Bexley between November 2025 and March 2026, with over 200 deployed in December alone. The rollout adds to 100 existing units installed in 2025, bringing Bexley's total to 500 charge points. Ubitricity will supply, install, operate and maintain the network, which includes smart charging software and takes under 30 minutes per unit to retrofit into residential street lighting.
Why it matters: The rapid deployment pace, over 200 units in a single month, demonstrates the scalability of lamppost retrofits for local authority procurement teams seeking fast residential coverage. With ubitricity operating over 14,600 UK charge points, the Bexley model offers a template for councils prioritising low disruption installations and full service contracts.
