BMW prices 2027 iX3 electric SUV $5,000 below petrol X3 M50, opens US reservations

BMW has opened US reservations for its 2027 iX3 electric SUV at $62,850 including destination, approximately $5,000 less than the comparable petrol X3 M50 xDrive, with deliveries starting late September 2025. The dual motor vehicle offers 463 horsepower, 467 pound feet of torque, and an EPA estimated range of up to 434 miles with 20 inch summer tyres (383 miles with all season tyres), exceeding Tesla Model Y Premium AWD's 327 miles. Buyers can reserve with a $1,000 deposit, according to InsideEVs.
Why it matters: The iX3's pricing below a petrol equivalent and extended range addresses two key barriers to EV adoption, potentially accelerating demand for public and workplace charging infrastructure as luxury SUV buyers shift to electric. The 434 mile range may reduce range anxiety but increases the need for reliable fast charging networks to support long distance travel.
