BYD demonstrates 1,036 km range and Blade Battery 2.0 in 15,000 km Rome to Hong Kong drive

BYD is showcasing its Blade Battery 2.0 technology in a 15,000 km journey from Rome to Hong Kong using upgraded Denza Z9GT vehicles, which the company claims offer a 1,036 km single charge range for a mass produced pure electric car. The 43 day trip, which began on 13 June and crosses 11 countries, comes as BYD's overseas deliveries jumped 82.5 per cent year on year to 471,091 units in the first half of 2025, representing 42.5 per cent of total sales. The demonstration highlights BYD's push to promote its high performance batteries and fast charging capabilities in global markets.
Why it matters: Extended range claims and proven long distance capability reduce range anxiety arguments in fleet and public charging tenders, while BYD's rapid overseas expansion signals growing competition for European and Asian charging infrastructure contracts.
