Canada commits 84.4 million dollars to deploy 8,000 EV charging ports across 122 projects

Natural Resources Canada's Zero Emission Vehicle Infrastructure Program will fund 122 projects to install 8,000 new charging ports nationwide, with grants ranging from 39,900 dollars for 20 chargers to 7.3 million dollars for 495 chargers. The investment addresses geographic imbalance, as 67 per cent of Canada's existing 38,000 charging points are concentrated in Ontario and Quebec, and aims to close the gap toward the government's target of 52,000 charging points by end 2025. The funding forms part of a broader 1.5 billion dollar federal commitment to EV infrastructure announced by Prime Minister Mark Carney.
