Cargo Matters chairman commits Rs 2 crore CSR fund for campus EV charging across Andhra Pradesh

Umesh Padala, Chairman of Cargo Matters, has pledged Rs 2 crore in Corporate Social Responsibility funding to install EV charging infrastructure at educational institutions across Andhra Pradesh. The initiative will sponsor 3 units of 60 kW chargers and 3 units of 120 kW chargers at participating universities, alongside covering electricity costs of up to 10,000 units per charger monthly to enable free charging for students and faculty. The programme aims to encourage EV adoption by embedding accessible charging within campus environments.
Why it matters: The CSR funded deployment demonstrates a private sector model for seeding public charging infrastructure in institutional settings, potentially opening procurement pathways for CPOs to partner with corporates on similar campus rollouts. Covering operational electricity costs addresses a key barrier to host site adoption, a commercial structure that could inform future tender designs for educational and public sector charging programmes.
