ChargEV switches on two 22kW AC chargers at KL East Mall, with more AC and DC points planned
By Eve
ChargEV has deployed two 22kW AC charge points on Level 1 of the upper floor carpark at KL East Mall, opposite Pillar H22, priced at RM1.00 per kWh and accessible via ChargEV, JomCharge and Gentari Go. An idle fee of RM0.50 per minute applies if a vehicle is not moved within 20 minutes, and a 20% discount with code KLEM26 runs until 11pm on 5 November 2026. More AC and DC charge points are being deployed in the basement carpark, following the decommissioning of Shell Recharge's AC charge points at the mall.
Why it matters
The site shows a quick operator changeover at a retail host location after an incumbent's exit, which signals that mall hosts in Malaysia can be won by competing CPOs. Roaming access across three apps and an idle fee policy are becoming standard commercial features for destination charging.

ChargeZone says India's EV charging should be judged on energy delivered, not charger numbers
Speaking at the Autocar Professional India EV Conclave 2026 in New Delhi, ChargeZone Co-Founder and Director, Strategy, Ravindra Mohan said the sector should be measured by the energy delivered to vehicles rather than chargers installed. He said the company has electrified approximately 45,000 km of highways through around 1,500 of its own charging points, with reported uptime of approximately 98.6%, while acknowledging that grid interruptions can affect customer experience. The discussion also covered high-power charging for commercial vehicles, second-life EV batteries and plans to turn charging stations into energy assets through battery storage and renewable electricity.
Why it matters
A shift from counting chargers to measuring energy delivered and uptime points to performance metrics that tenders and funding decisions may increasingly reward. The focus on storage, renewables and grid resilience also signals where CPOs may need to invest to protect reliability and customer experience.
