US states have spent only 2 percent of $4.4 billion federal EV charging programme four years after launch

States have drawn down just $94 million of the $4.4 billion allocated under the National Electric Vehicle Infrastructure programme since Congress approved the funding four years ago, according to Federal Highway Administration data filed in a lawsuit last week. Five states (Kansas, Louisiana, Missouri, Nevada and Wyoming) have spent nothing, while a Trump administration spending freeze has added further delay to the rollout.
