Odisha reviews CRUT electric bus expansion across ten cities with 1,300 daily riders in Keonjhar

Odisha's Housing & Urban Development Minister chaired a review of the Comprehensive Regional Urban Transport (CRUT) programme, assessing Phase I expansion in Keonjhar, Baripada, Angul, Jharsuguda and Balasore, and planning Phase II for Jajpur, Rayagada, Koraput, Bhadrak and Balangir. Electric bus services in Keonjhar now carry nearly 1,300 passengers per day with ridership steadily increasing. Officials were directed to expedite infrastructure and power connectivity works for the PM e-Bus Sewa Scheme depots and to strengthen non-fare revenue through advertising and other monetisation.
Why it matters: The ten city rollout signals sustained state level procurement momentum for electric bus fleets and associated charging infrastructure across Odisha. Rising ridership and the push for depot readiness create near term opportunities for depot equipment, grid connection and ancillary service contracts.
