Ethiopia has unveiled its National Electric Mobility Strategy and Implementation Plan for 2025 to 2030, announced at a workshop in Addis Ababa attended by government officials, development partners, and transport experts, according to ENA. The Ministry of Transport and Logistics said the roadmap covers policy and regulatory reform, charging infrastructure development, public transport integration, investment promotion, private sector participation, institutional coordination, and domestic manufacturing opportunities. The strategy aligns with the African Union's regional framework for electric vehicles and green transport systems.
Why it matters: A national roadmap covering charging infrastructure and regulatory reform signals upcoming procurement opportunities for CPOs and equipment suppliers entering the Ethiopian market. The emphasis on private sector participation and domestic manufacturing may shape tender requirements and local content rules over the next five years.
