Nigeria to launch Northern CNG and EV corridor in Kano

By Eve

The Federal Government of Nigeria, through the Presidential Initiative on Compressed Natural Gas and Electric Vehicles, will launch the Northern Corridor of the CNG and EV programme in Kano on Thursday. The initiative aims to promote cleaner, affordable and sustainable transportation alternatives across Northern Nigeria and reduce dependence on conventional fuel sources. Vice President Kashim Shettima and governors from Kano, Jigawa and Katsina states are expected to attend the launch event.

Why it matters: The corridor launch signals federal commitment to alternative fuel infrastructure in Northern Nigeria, potentially opening procurement opportunities for CNG and EV charging equipment across multiple states. CPOs and suppliers should monitor subsequent tenders as the programme expands regional coverage.
