Fiat names upcoming electric city car Koala, targets 2027 launch on Stellantis E-Car platform
By Eve
Fiat CEO Arnaud Belloni told Autocar at the Paris Motor Show that the brand's next electric city car will be called Koala, due in 2027. The compact model will use Stellantis's E-Car platform and draw on the Citroën 2CV design, targeting a new EU vehicle category for EVs up to 4.2 metres long. Production is expected at Stellantis's Pomigliano d'Arco plant in Italy alongside the new Citroën 2CV, with a possible Opel variant also planned.
Why it matters
The Koala signals Stellantis's push into affordable urban EVs under 4.2 metres, a segment the EU is promoting to boost EV uptake. For charge point operators, a wave of compact city EVs from multiple Stellantis brands could drive demand for urban and workplace charging infrastructure across Europe from 2027 onward.

Fiat boss backs Multiplay electric MPV concept for production within two to three years
New Fiat chief Arnaud Belloni has described the Multiplay concept, a radical MPV and pick up hybrid shown at the Paris motor show, as 'absolutely meaningful' and confirmed a family car based on it could reach production in two to three years 'if we are fast.' The model would compete with electric people carriers such as the Kia PV5 and Volkswagen ID Buzz, drawing on the legacy of the 1998 Multipla.
Why it matters
A new electric family vehicle from Fiat would expand the European EV market segment that charging networks serve, potentially driving demand for high power charging at family oriented destinations and along holiday corridors across Italy and wider Europe.
Fiat Topolino electric quadricycle wins TIME Best Inventions 2026 design award
Fiat's Topolino, a two seat electric quadricycle priced from £8,995, has been named one of TIME's Best Inventions of 2026 in the Design category. The vehicle became Europe's best selling electric quadricycle in 2025 and has maintained that position through 2026, with particularly strong sales in Italy, Germany, the Netherlands, Austria and Switzerland. It has been the top seller in France since July 2026, competing against the Citroen Ami which shares its underpinnings and is priced at £7,695.
Why it matters
The award and sales performance signal growing commercial acceptance of ultra low cost electric micromobility as a viable urban transport category, potentially opening procurement opportunities for city car sharing schemes and last mile delivery fleets seeking sub £9,000 electric options.
Blue Energy Motors joins government PARIVARTAN scheme to supply electric heavy-duty trucks in Delhi-NCR
Blue Energy Motors has signed a Memorandum of Understanding with India's Ministry of Road Transport and Highways to participate in the PARIVARTAN Scheme, which offers financial incentives and tax concessions to fleet operators replacing aging, high-emission trucks and buses with zero-emission electric models across the Delhi-National Capital Region. The commercial vehicle maker will supply electric heavy-duty trucks to logistics providers transitioning away from fossil fuels under the programme.
Why it matters
The scheme creates a direct procurement pathway for electric truck suppliers targeting fleet operators in one of India's largest logistics corridors, with government-backed financial support lowering the barrier to heavy-duty EV adoption. For charging infrastructure providers, the programme signals growing demand for depot and en-route charging solutions capable of serving commercial electric trucks in the NCR.
