France targets 30,000 fast chargers on state roads by 2035, including 8,000 for trucks

The French government has unveiled a master plan to deploy around 30,000 fast-charging points on its state-owned road network by 2035, comprising roughly 22,000 passenger-car chargers at 150 kW and 8,000 dedicated truck chargers. The network, which covers approximately 20,000 kilometres of motorways and national highways and carries one-third of France's traffic, currently hosts around 4,500 charging points across 420 service areas. Officials say the plan represents a fivefold increase in capacity over ten years, with rollout speed set to double compared to the past five years.
Why it matters: The commitment to 8,000 truck chargers marks one of Europe's first large-scale heavy-duty charging programmes, opening a significant procurement pipeline for high-power equipment and grid connections.
