Tanzania government commits to stakeholder recommendations for EV charging rollout

By Eve

Tanzania's Ministry of Energy has pledged to implement stakeholder proposals for expanding EV charging infrastructure, including ensuring reliable electricity supply and dedicated transformers at charging stations. Engineer Petro Lyatuu, Director of Policy and Planning, announced at the 50th Dar es Salaam International Trade Fair that the recommendations will be incorporated into national development plans to support electric mobility and reduce transport costs.

Why it matters: Government backing for dedicated transformers and reliable grid connections signals a more structured procurement environment for charge point operators entering Tanzania. The commitment to embed infrastructure requirements in national plans may unlock public and donor funding streams for EV charging projects.
