Montra Electric delivers 65 heavy-duty electric trucks in India, first batch of 260-unit order

By Eve

Indian manufacturer Montra Electric has delivered 65 electric heavy-duty trucks from its Manesar, Haryana factory on 8 July, representing the first batch of a 260-unit fleet order. The Rhino 5538 EV 55-tonne tractor-trailers feature a 280 kW motor, 282 kWh LFP battery offering 169 to 198 kilometres of range depending on drivetrain, and dual-gun fast-charging at up to 240 kW with 20 per cent to 100 per cent charging in 60 minutes. The remaining 195 trucks will be delivered over the coming months.

Why it matters: This 260-unit order signals growing commercial appetite for heavy-duty electric trucks in India's industrial sectors, including cement, mining and construction. The deployment will create charging infrastructure demand for high-power dual-gun systems capable of 240 kW, with potential for battery-swapping installations if customers opt for that configuration.
