India recorded 2.55 million electric vehicle sales in FY2025 to 2026, a 25% year on year increase, with EV penetration reaching 8.3% of total vehicle registrations (30.84 million), according to the India Energy Storage Alliance. EV sales grew nearly twice as fast as the overall automotive market, which expanded 13%. Electric L5 three wheelers achieved more than 31% market penetration, making them India's most electrified mainstream segment.
