Chargecloud CEO says software and smart charging are mandatory for large electric truck fleets

By Eve

Markus Bach, CEO of German charging software provider chargecloud since August 2021, argues that smart charging becomes essential for large electric truck fleets and that the transition from pilot projects to full depot charging parks hinges on ensuring every truck is charged and ready for scheduled departure. Chargecloud recently launched the dragonize e-truck charging ecosystem, providing its chargecloud OS as the Charge Point Management System to enable logistics companies to share and jointly use depot charging points. Bach, who co-founded chargecloud in 2016 and has over a decade in e-mobility, highlights that electric truck charging requirements differ significantly from passenger car needs.

Why it matters: Depot operators and fleet managers procuring truck charging infrastructure need software platforms that handle load and energy management at scale, not just hardware. The dragonize ecosystem model shows how shared charging infrastructure and intelligent management systems can support the commercial vehicle electrification pipeline.
