Kadamba Transport Corporation plans to procure 100 more electric buses

Goa's state-run Kadamba Transport Corporation Ltd (KTC) has proposed procuring 100 new electric buses this year, comprising 60 nine-metre and 40 twelve-metre units, pending government financial approval. KTC currently operates 171 electric buses and 485 diesel buses, with charging infrastructure for the new fleet tentatively planned at a depot in Ponda. Separately, KTC has proposed deploying 87 electric vehicles under a centrally sponsored scheme within a 15 kilometre radius of Panaji, where charging infrastructure is already in place at Kadamba bus stand.
Why it matters: The 100-bus procurement signals a substantial expansion opportunity for bus OEMs and charging infrastructure providers in Goa, particularly as KTC phases out ageing diesel vehicles, with 19 buses reaching 15 years of service by December 2025. The separate 87-vehicle central scheme adds further near-term demand for depot charging solutions in the Panaji area.
