Mahindra plans five vehicle launches by June 2027, including an NU_IQ-based model and an all-new electric SUV
By Eve
Mahindra & Mahindra intends to introduce five major products across its SUV and light commercial vehicle portfolios in the first half of calendar year 2027, as it expands manufacturing capacity to sustain sales growth. The programme covers a model on the NU_IQ platform unveiled in August 2025, an all-new electric SUV, the previously unveiled Scorpio Lifestyler pickup, an SUV refresh and a new light commercial vehicle. Rajesh Jejurikar, Executive Director and CEO, Auto and Farm Sectors, confirmed the plans at the company's Q2 FY27 media interaction on Thursday.
Why it matters
A new electric SUV and a modular multi-energy platform from a major Indian manufacturer point to a growing EV parc in India from 2027, which bears on charger demand planning. The new light commercial vehicle also suggests fleet charging requirements that CPOs and procurement teams may want to track.

Mahindra plans 2027 UK launch with three electric SUVs designed in Oxfordshire
Autocar reports that Mahindra is around a year from putting cars in UK showrooms, led by three electric SUVs styled at its Banbury design studio. Early pricing points to the upper end of the mainstream market, in a similar space to Cupra and DS, with the BE 6 reportedly priced from around £41,000. Customer clinics have reportedly taken place to define positioning, and the plans follow earlier UK entry attempts dating back to the 2016 e2o city car.
Why it matters
Another new electric brand entering the UK in 2027 adds to the future public charging demand that CPOs and site funders need to plan for. Procurement teams may also want to watch for any Mahindra charging partnerships or network commitments as the launch approaches.
Mahindra posts its best electric SUV month in October as India electric car sales reach 36,911 units
India's electric passenger vehicle retail sales hit 36,911 units in October, up 76% YoY from 20,954 units and 4% below September's record 38,355, marking a fifth month in a row above 30,000. Mahindra delivered its best electric SUV total of 8,541 units, Tata Motors recorded its second highest retail of 14,654 EVs, and luxury EV makers delivered 868 units. Ten months into CY2026, 293,877 units have been delivered, and the segment is tipped to reach a record 375,000 units for the year, according to the monthly sales analysis.
Why it matters
Sustained monthly volumes above 30,000 and quarterly growth (Q3 at 105,612 units, up 86% YoY) point to a fast expanding base of vehicles needing public and fleet charging. CPOs and suppliers planning Indian rollouts should expect demand to keep outpacing current site capacity.
Foodstuffs North Island names its first electric semi, a DeepWay Star, 'Evie' after a school competition
Foodstuffs North Island Limited has named its Chinese-built DeepWay Star electric semi 'Evie', chosen by Year 2 pupil Madison in a competition run with Russell Street School in Palmerston North. The truck began delivering chilled and frozen groceries across the lower North Island earlier this year, and the unveiling was attended by Mayor Grant Smith, local MP Tangi Utikeri and local PAK'nSAVE, New World and Four Square grocers. The report comes from a news article, and the excerpt provided gives no battery, range or charging figures.
Why it matters
Foodstuffs describes Evie as its first electric truck, a sign that a major New Zealand grocery supply chain is putting heavy electric trucks into regular chilled and frozen delivery work. For CPOs and procurement teams, that points to potential depot charging demand in the lower North Island, though the excerpt gives no detail on charging arrangements.
