Marston's and Believ partner to expand pub EV charging network from 2026

By Eve

UK pub group Marston's has signed a long term deal with charge point operator Believ to install Standard, Standard Plus and Ultra Rapid chargers across its estate, with first sites going live in late 2026. Believ will fund, install and operate the infrastructure under an end to end service model. Marston's already runs 542 chargers at 195 sites through its existing Osprey Charging Network partnership, the largest rapid and ultra fast pub charging network in the UK.

Why it matters

The fully funded, turnkey model removes capital and operational risk for the hospitality operator, while the mix of charging speeds targets different dwell times at pub and accommodation sites. Believ's pipeline now includes a major destination charging rollout alongside an established CPO incumbent.

Believ wins 15 year deal to install over 600 chargers across Ayrshire councils

CPO Believ has secured a 15 year partnership with three Ayrshire councils to install more than 600 EV chargers at around 300 locations, with installation starting in early 2027. The project combines over £2.8m from the Scottish Government's EV Infrastructure Fund with more than £15m in committed capital investment from Believ, delivered alongside Transport Scotland and the Scottish Futures Trust. The rollout will provide a mix of charging speeds across East Ayrshire (roughly 180 chargers), North Ayrshire (210 chargers) and South Ayrshire (220 chargers), including urban, rural and island communities such as the Isle of Arran.

Why it matters

This major regional procurement demonstrates how Scottish councils are bundling requirements to attract substantial private capital, with Believ committing over five times the public grant in a long term concession model. The 15 year operating agreement and mixed speed infrastructure approach offers a template for other UK local authorities seeking to extend charging access without upfront capital outlay.

Believ to install more than 600 chargers across Ayrshire in 15 year council partnership

EV charge point operator Believ has secured a 15 year agreement with three Ayrshire councils to install more than 600 chargers at around 300 locations, with installation beginning in early 2027. The project combines over £2.8m from the Scottish Government's EV Infrastructure Fund with more than £15m in committed capital investment from Believ, delivered alongside Transport Scotland and the Scottish Futures Trust. The rollout includes roughly 180 chargers for East Ayrshire, 210 for North Ayrshire and 220 for South Ayrshire, with passive infrastructure for over 450 additional chargers to enable future upgrades without disruptive roadworks.

Why it matters

This major regional deployment demonstrates how CPOs can secure long term public sector contracts by combining government funding with substantial private capital, creating a scalable model for rural and island charging access. The inclusion of passive infrastructure for 450 additional chargers shows forward planning that reduces future deployment costs and speeds network expansion as EV adoption grows.

Electrify America operates 6,029 DC fast-charging ports across 1,191 US sites

Electrify America now runs 6,029 DC fast-charging ports at 1,191 locations in the United States, making it the second largest DC charging network after Tesla Supercharger, according to InsideEVs citing the US Department of Energy's Alternative Fuels Data Center. Over the past year, the network's port count grew by 16% and station count by around 10%, with 202 ports added in the second quarter alone, representing 6.7% of all US DC fast-charging ports. ChargePoint, the third largest operator, installed 333 ports in the same quarter and holds 6.1% market share, while Walmart's network added more ports than any other non-Tesla company in the quarter, reaching 916 ports across 110 stations.

Why it matters

The figures confirm Electrify America's dominant position among non-Tesla networks and provide procurement teams with current scale benchmarks for the US fast-charging market. Walmart's aggressive second quarter rollout signals a major retail-led expansion that could reshape site partnership opportunities for CPOs and equipment suppliers.
