Mercedes-Benz Malaysia launches MB.Charge Public integrating over 3,000 charge points from seven CPOs
By Eve
Mercedes-Benz Malaysia has launched MB.Charge Public, a unified charging ecosystem that aggregates more than 3,000 charging points across over 1,000 locations from seven charge point operators, including CarputZap, Charge+, ChargeSini, chargEV, DC Handal, Gentari, and JomCharge. The system allows Mercedes-Benz electric and plug-in hybrid owners to locate, navigate, and pay for charging through the Mercedes-Benz App or the in-car MBUX multimedia system, eliminating the need for multiple operator apps. The platform also enables cross-border charging between Malaysia and Singapore, with access to networks from Charge+, ComfortDelGro Energy, SP Group, and Volt in Singapore.
Why it matters
This OEM-led aggregation model demonstrates how vehicle manufacturers are bypassing fragmented CPO ecosystems to deliver seamless roaming and payment experiences, potentially reshaping competitive dynamics for independent charge point operators. The cross-border functionality between Malaysia and Singapore signals growing regional interoperability, a key procurement consideration for fleets and infrastructure planners operating across Southeast Asian markets.

Mercedes-Benz CLA passes 112 km/h side impact crash test with battery intact
Mercedes-Benz conducted a severe side impact crash test with two production CLA vehicles, each travelling at 56 km/h for a combined closing speed of 112 km/h. The test paired an all electric CLA with a CLA Shooting Brake featuring an electrified combustion engine, both weighing over two tonnes. The high voltage battery in the electric CLA remained intact despite the direct side impact, and passenger compartment integrity was maintained in both vehicles.
Why it matters
Battery safety in severe crash scenarios is a critical consideration for fleet operators and charging infrastructure planners, as it affects vehicle downtime, insurance costs and site safety protocols. Demonstrated battery resilience in real world collision conditions may influence procurement decisions for electric fleets and inform risk assessments at charging locations.
PPC blue and Cometex to install over 300 charging points across Romania with 20 MW capacity
PPC blue and Cometex have deployed 20 charging points to date across six Romanian cities, including an eight point, 450 kW hub at Aurora Retail Park in Giurgiu. The partnership will add more than 300 new charging points with an estimated total installed capacity exceeding 20 MW, including sites at Bricostore locations, while PPC blue will take over Cometex's existing network of more than 87 charging points at retail parks nationwide.
Why it matters
The rollout demonstrates a retail focused charging strategy targeting high footfall locations, with the network integration offering procurement teams a consolidated operator relationship across multiple Romanian retail sites. The 20 MW pipeline signals significant grid connection and equipment supply opportunities for contractors and hardware vendors in the Romanian market.
