Myenergi launches zapsafe dual-sensing system to cut false EV charger trips

By Eve

Myenergi has introduced zapsafe, a patented safety system now standard across its zappi charger range, designed to reduce unnecessary disconnections caused by voltage fluctuations in the UK's increasingly complex electricity network. The system assesses both supply voltage and the charger's Protective Earth and Neutral (PEN) connection before disconnecting, addressing a growing problem where installers are called out to chargers that stop due to normal grid fluctuations rather than genuine faults. The technology is integrated within the charger, removing the need for additional external protection devices during installation.

Why it matters: For installers and charge point operators, zapsafe promises to reduce costly callouts and downtime by distinguishing between real electrical faults and harmless grid variations, a challenge intensifying as distributed energy resources proliferate. The integrated design also simplifies procurement and installation workflows by eliminating separate protection hardware.
