NCT orders 12 more Yutong electric buses, bringing total on order to 31 vehicles

By Eve

Nottingham City Transport has ordered five Yutong U11DD double-deck and seven E12 single-deck electric buses through UK partner Pelican Bus & Coach, announced at the ALBUM Conference 2026. The 12 buses will enter service in April 2027, following 19 electric double-deckers due in late 2026, with funding support from the Mayor of the East Midlands and the East Midlands Combined County Authority via Nottinghamshire County Council. Once delivered, NCT's zero-emission fleet will reach 93 vehicles, representing one-third of its total fleet.

Why it matters: The order signals sustained procurement momentum in the East Midlands, with combined authority funding enabling a phased rollout that will require charging infrastructure for 31 new electric buses across two delivery windows. Pelican's 40% UK value-add model and the scale of NCT's electrification offer a template for other regional operators pursuing zero-emission transitions with public funding.
