Octopus Energy signs 500,000 drivers to home EV charging tariff
By Eve
More than 500,000 drivers in the UK now use Octopus Energy's Intelligent Octopus Go home charging tariff, which charges 8p per kilowatt hour. Based on the average 7,600 miles per year, drivers save over £850 annually compared to running an equivalent petrol car, with electric running costs at around 2p per mile. The UK has an estimated 1.4 million home EV chargers installed.
Why it matters: The half million customer milestone demonstrates strong residential demand for time of use tariffs that lower charging costs, a key factor for CPOs and housing developers planning home charge point rollouts. The £850 annual saving figure provides a concrete business case for domestic charge point procurement and installation programmes.
