Ohme partners Leapmotor and Energia to offer free home chargers in Ireland
By Eve
Home EV charging provider Ohme has partnered with automaker Leapmotor Ireland and utility Energia to offer free Ohme ePod chargers to new Leapmotor customers who sign up to an Energia EV smart tariff before the end of February 2027. Energia's 12 month contract provides off peak EV charging at 12.25 cents per kWh and also has an agreement with hardware provider Zappi, allowing customers to receive a free charger from either provider. Cork based Ohme is also home charging partner for Electric Ireland and is working with Irish distribution system operator ESB Networks on an energy trial testing consumer engagement in flexible EV charging schemes.
Why it matters
The partnership demonstrates how hardware providers are securing distribution through bundled utility and automotive deals, creating a competitive procurement landscape for home charging equipment in Ireland. The dual supplier arrangement with Zappi suggests utilities are diversifying hardware partnerships to meet growing demand and avoid single vendor dependency.
